- Before colonoscopy, you must eat a clear and residue-free diet.

I.What is colonoscopy?
Colonoscopy is a diagnostic method for the detection of colorectal lesions.The colon is composed of for part, ascending colon, the transverse colon, and the descending colon. The scope may be able to reach the cecum successfully if there is no adhesion in the intestines. If any inflammation, polyps, tumors, or bleeding is identified during the procedure, removal of polyps, biopsy, electrocoagulation(to stop the bleeding), or other procedures will be carried out.
II. Before the examination
- Sign the surgery and anesthesia consent.
- Eat a low-residue diet two days before the examination.
- You can only take a clear liquid diet the day before the examination

- Those undergoing painless microscopy are advised not to eat or drink after 12pm.
- Take bowel cleansing liquid as directed by your doctor:
- Niflec (GI klean): Check in the morning, take it at 6pm and 4am the day before the checkup. I checked in the afternoon and took it at 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. that day. The steps are as follows:
1.Odorless, two bottles in total, dilute with 2000mL cold water. |
2.Drink 1000 mL for the first time (approximately 200 mL every 10 minutes). |

3. Drink the remaining 1000mL in the next 1-2 hours. |
4.It will take about an hour to drink the medicine.Beginning to feel the need to defecate. |

5.Please observe the pattern of defecation. The stool liquid in the toilet is clear and yellow, which means the bowel cleansing is completed. |

III.Information after the examination
- Abdominal bloating, abdominal pain, and flatulence (farting or burping) are caused by air being blown into the intestines during the examination. The symptoms will be relieved in about 6 hours to 2 days, and can be improved by changing posture or walking more.
- After the examination, you can try drinking boiled water according to the doctor's instructions or 2-6 hours later. If there is no nausea or vomiting, you can start eating. Start with a half-measured, soft diet on the same day, and then resume your normal diet the next day. Soft foods include porridge, noodles, steamed buns, steamed eggs, etc. Avoid hard vegetables and stone fruits.
- If a polyp is removed, a mild, soft diet should be adopted within a week. A moderate diet should avoid pepper, chili pepper, alcohol, hard or sour fruits.
- After the examination, you may feel dizzy due to the influence of anesthetic drugs. It is not advisable to drive or ride a motorcycle or operate mechanical work on that day.
IV. Precautions
- If you experience severe abdominal pain, large amounts of bloody stool, or If you have a fever or other abnormal conditions, you should immediately return to the emergency room for medical treatment.
