- Instructions for postoperative medication use.
- Precautions after egg retrieval surgery.Ex:If get fever or severe pain please go to emergency room as soon as possible.
- Preoperative Assessment: Learn to assess the patient's medical history , including contraindications or risks associated with the procedure. This assessment helps in tailoring the procedure.
Medications after the procedure
- □ Oral medication:
On the Day of the Egg Retrieval
□ Cefadroxil 500mg □ Lederscon □ Trand 250mg
□ Naproxen 250mg or Acetaminophen 500mg
Take your 1st dose in the evening on the day of the procedure. You will take those medicine twice a day with food for 3 days.
And “ Trand” should be taken in 2 tablets once.
Days After the Egg Retrieval
□ Estrade 2mg □ Duphaston 10mg
You will take those medicine twice a day with food for 5 days.
□ Cabergoline
You will take those medicine once a day with food for 8 days.
Suppository
□ Crinone 8% vag gel (Progesterone)
Insert 1 application-full into your vagina every morning during 6-10 AM.
How to use the vaginal suppository
- Please keep suppository at room temperature ( 25℃). Keep in a cool place, doesn’t need to be refrigerated.
- First, wash your hands with soap. Grasp the thick end of the package and pinch out, light rejection suppository, then the gel concentrate on the narrow end, and remove the narrow end of the plastic head. Lie down, bend your legs, and put the thin end into the vagina at a depth of 1/2 thin end long. Use your finger to compress the air chamber from the thick end and continuing for 10 seconds remain, remove suppository. ( you can refer to the instructions for use)
- Lying about 10-15 minutes, then you can have normal activities ( walking can enhance the vaginal wall to completely absorbed agent).
Guidelines to Follow
- After the procedure, rest and observation is necessary at the post-operative recovery room until the anesthetic effect wears off. You would be discharged then.
- After surgery, if you don’t have nausea or vomiting, you can drink water at ___________; then, normal diet is allowed.
- You might have vaginal implants
□ no gauze packing
□ gauze packing ,please provide your signature to confirm that we have removed it at。
- Due to the general anesthesia, you might feel dizzy or sleepy right after the surgery; therefore, driving is not suitable for at least 24 hours. Designated driver or public transportation is highly suggested.
- You may have cramping or vaginal spotting for a few days after the procedure. Please visit our ER or OPD if the symptoms aggravate or persist over one week.
- Follow the instructions of the medications.
Come back to the hospital immediately if you have the following conditions:

- Aggravating abdominal pain that isn't relieved by regular painkillers.
- Heavy vaginal bleeding which requires frequent change of the sanitary pads.
- Foul-smelling, greenish/ yellowish vaginal discharge.
- Fever with chillness (over 38.3°C).
